This last May a small group of us got together to explore the inception, construction and practical uses of Pagan Prayer Beads. We had a wonderful time working and playing with beads and prayer poems. It is always a delight to practice the arts of Pagan Prayer Beads with the adventurous and brilliant folk who choose to be a part of these classes.

As usual, we each explored writing and constructing a personal set of PPBs using a communal intention. This year’s intention was: We invite Beauty and Compassion to inspire us with every breath we take. Each set of beads and their companion prayer poems are creations of beauty and power, courage and commitment, thoroughly weaving the sacred into our day to day lives. We each have chosen to pledge to work with these sets PPBs for at least one full year. As part of that working, we are sharing our prayers and/or beads with our communities.

Let us all declare:

We invite Beauty and Compassion,

To inspire us with every breath we take!

May we dare to recognize the blessings that flow through our lives like a wild untamed river.

We invite beauty and compassion to inspire us with every breath we take.

Hail and honor to the beauty in and around each of us

Hail to the stars, moon, sun, and earth that influence us

Hail to the new at every turn; a chance to learn

Hail to the noises of nature.  Reminders to pauses and reflect

***Compassion is the key

Hail to the visual arts that decorate our world and bring us joy

Hail to all creativity that heads points us to innovation

Hail to new perspective, so that we may not stagnate

***Compassion is the key

Hail the seedlings.  Life begins anew

Hail the growing plant; show us how to ground ourselves

Hail dirt! The life giver to plants for food, and beauty

***Compassion is the key

Hail to insight, may we not turn away when it is upon us

Hail to the trust in ourselves, may we follow what we believe

We invite beauty and compassion to inspire us with every breath we take.

I breathe in beauty. I breathe out compassion.

May we know them in the roots of our ancestors watching,

waiting, with the wisdom of the ages.

May we know them in the seeds of our descendants

budding, blossoming, free of fear.

I breathe in beauty. I breathe out compassion.

May we know them in the voices of nature

joyful song, warning cry, mating call.

May we know them in times of lushness and times of decay,

destruction, decomposition, new life growing from compost.

I breathe in beauty. I breathe out compassion.

May we know them in the bitter and the sweet

flavors layer, blend, become something new.

May we know them in imperfection
from mistakes, awareness, understanding grow.

I breathe in beauty. I breathe out compassion.

We invite beauty and compassion to inspire us with every breath we take.

We invite Beauty and Compassion to inspire us with every breath we take.

I honor birdsong and sunshine, gentle rains, whispering trees and the mystery that connects us all.

I pray for the ancestors upon whose shoulders I stand and whose bones rattle my branches.

I honor my roots, rooted and rooting, in the emerging cultures of beauty, balance, and delight.

The purpose of life is life.

All the seasons of life are sacred.

I dare to be awake, aware, and alive.

I honor paradox, joy and sorrow, living in the time of the Great Turning.

I pray for the seeds of the descendants, healing, and a new way to live.

I am grateful for the comfort, strength and love of my queer family.

The purpose of life is life.

All the seasons of life are sacred.

I dare to be awake, aware, and alive.

I honor the resilience and resourcefulness of dandelions.

I delight in poetry, music, and art.

I honor the Sacred Witnesses, the art of listening.

The purpose of life is life.

All the seasons of life are sacred.

I dare to be awake, aware, and alive.

I pray for the queer ones, the change-makers, edge-walkers, and misfits.

Holding and held, loved and loving, I pray for the vitality of my beloveds.

Thank you mystery, earth, water, fire, and air that connect us all.

The purpose of life is life.

All the seasons of life are sacred.

I dare to be awake, aware, and alive.

We invite beauty and compassion to inspire us with every breath we take.

We invite beauty and compassion to inspire us with every breath we take.

We remember to inhale deeply and exhale completely.

Hear the birds’ joyful song and warning cry.

Inhale deeply, exhale completely.

Feel your passion be fueled by dragon-fire.

Inhale deeply, exhale completely.

Touch coursing clear waters to be reminded of healthy flow.

Inhale deeply, exhale completely.

Turn compost to see the power of transformation and fertilization.

Inhale deeply, exhale completely.

Allow your luminous spirit to soar on the winds of right change.

Remember to inhale deeply, exhale completely.

Listen to the Bones Underneath tell tales of beginning anew.

Inhale deeply, exhale completely.

Kiss and frolic with those who love you beyond all reason.

Inhale deeply, exhale completely.

Taste the fragrant nectar of blossoms that make your heart sing.

Inhale deeply, exhale completely.

Enjoy the wild abandon of dancing with the Bears.

Remember to inhale deeply, exhale completely.

Be open to answer the question “Will you?”

Inhale deeply, exhale completely.

Dare to recognize your own changing beauty.

Inhale deeply, exhale completely.

Trust you will know when it is time to reap the harvest.

Inhale deeply, exhale completely.

Remember to inhale deeply, exhale completely.

We invite Beauty and Compassion,

To inspire us with every breath we take.

Welcome Beauty.

Welcome Compassion.

A breath, like a teasing breeze of lust and desire,

Arouses the bones sleeping under streaming heaps of rubble.

A wild wind sings, joining the cyclic dances of transmutation,

Waltzing their ways through the ruined ballrooms of a dwindling civilization.

A patient zephyr reminds those remaining,

How to heal, to drink deeply from the Waters of Life.

Welcome Beauty.

Welcome Compassion.

The beauty of decay,

The kiss of rot,

The wonder of transforming dead flesh and rusted promises,

Call forth a fever.

May the slow compost fires thrive.

May the flames of wanton death and destruction,

Not find enough fuel to flourish and spread.

Welcome Beauty.

Welcome Compassion.

Blossoms emerge from the ashes,

Wild weeds stream across the wastes,

Vitality never ceases to emerge.

The cinders of suns and stars feed

New born beings scattered across the cosmos.

We inhale lushness and are content.

Welcome Beauty.

Welcome Compassion.

Power meets power,

Matter and energy embrace the inevitable Changes,

Rebirthing the potential, the possible, and the probable.

We see out feet.

We know our rhythms.

We do not falter.

We breathe in the harmony of the Living Songs of Viriditas.

We rejoice and begin anew.

Welcome Beauty.

Welcome Compassion.

We invite Beauty and Compassion

To inspire us with every breath we take.
