The giving and receiving of the me’:

More than one me’ can be given as a set at one time. A number of sets of the me are given at one time, then a little break while folks eat and drink enjoying each others company.

Hostesses take turns reading Inanna’s declarations:

“Inanna declares, ‘I give you the me’ of _____”.

Inanna and the Heroic Community declares, “We take It!”

Then together they toast saying, “We take the me’ of _____”.

Continue until all the me’ has been given and food & drink consumed.

The Benediction

A hostess says: Mark

The feast is over.

The me’ has been given.

Please repeat after me.

Let us together, practice the ways of a whole and healthy community.

Let us together, practice the ways of a wise and welcoming community.

Let us together, practice the ways of a heroic and courageous community.

May we sleep the sleep of the blessed community!

May we dance the dance of abundance and joy!

May we always dwell in the heroic communities of beauty, balance and delight!

A hostess says: Jennifer

And now Good Folk,

To set the work,

To honor the temple in which we have feasted,

To bring the Me’ into manifestation throughout Midgard,

Let us clean and wash,

Let us pack and prepare,

Let us restore this sacred place to tidiness and beauty.

Bless the Bees!

Bless the Bears!

Bless the Cherry Trees!

Farewell!

Sweet dreams to one and all!

The Story

Inanna and Enki:

The Transfer of the Arts of Civilization from Eridu to Uruk

And then from Uruk to All of Midgard

Donald L. Engstrom-Reese

Me’ - The me’ are the arts and principles that are held sacred and essential by all realms of the multiverse. The me’ are the multiversal and immutable rules and limits which must be observed by the Mysterious Ones and all others alike. The me’ are the enduring foundation stones of all sustainable cultures of beauty, balance and delight.

The me’ were first assembled from throughout the multiverse by Enlil, god of air and clan-leader of the Sumerian Mysterious Ones.

Enki, god of the waters, of semen, of wisdom and trickster by nature, the blessed son of Nammu, great gidden of the watery abyss and the primeval sea, was given the guardianship of the me’ by Enlil.

It was one of Enki’s most cherished joyful obligations to preserve the me’ and to impart them to all the peoples, human and otherwise. But there were rumors that Enki had begun to suspect that his time as guardian of the me’ was drawing nigh, though he was not as yet willing to consciously let them move on.

Inanna, gidden of love and war, beloved niece of Enki, queen of beauty and green growth, felt in her heart of hearts that it was time for the me’ to pass on to a new caretaker. She knew that she was the one to become the new guardian of the me’. Inanna made her plans and went to visit her uncle Enki. At a grand feast Inanna plied Enki with drink and he, while inebriated, granted her the powers, arts, crafts, and attributes of civilization. At least ninety-four me’ and probably more were given to her. Inanna gathered all of the me’ in Enki’s possession. Inanna parted company with Enki in good spirits, he, being still a bit drunk. When Enki recovered his wits he tried to recover the me’ from her, but Inanna arrived safely home with them them all intact.

As we have just heard, times have again changed. The Mysterious Ones have declared:

It is no longer the time for a single individual to hold the me’.

It is now time for the beloved communities to hold the me’.

Inanna has chosen to share her guardianship of the me’, the ancient and the newly emerging, with the heroic communities that are actively and courageously daring to grow and nurture the cultures of beauty, balance and delight. And at this time, at this feast in her honor, Inanna is choosing to share her guardianship of the me’ with this heroic community. It is now up to us, as shapers-with, as co-creators of multiverse, to now interpret and manifest the me’, along with all of our allies, as we step into these rapidly emerging worlds of change.

Let us dare to act with discernment, opening our hearts and minds to the mysteries.

Let us bravely choose to live lives of wonder and wisdom.

Let us choose to love and be loved.

When a Hostess declares;

“Inanna declares, I give you the me’ of _______”

Our joyful obligation is to together toast, declaring:

‘We take the me’ of _______”
