What is Earth Conclave?

o We do not follow a specific tradition or philosophy. But, among other things, we delight in the majestic Multiverse. We honor mystery. We honor life, death and rebirth. We honor the wonder of it all. We choose to be conscious shapers-with (co-creators) of the Multiverse. We come from a wide variety of different Earth-based paths. One of our central goals is to strengthen our connections to our own selves, our families, our communities, the Mysterious Ones and the Earth Itself – making real a vision of a viable, sustainable, and flourishing culture of beauty and abundance.

o A consensus-based board whose members come from the larger Earth Conclave community, facilitate the Conclave’s ongoing functions and get togethers. A specific committee, composed of community members and at least one board member, is formed to organize each Conclave event. Conclave also conducts other less-regular events such as the Enclaves (small gatherings of long-term participants), workshop intensives, and retreats. If you’re interested in serving on a committee or on the board, please let us know.

Earth Conclave’s Mission Statement:

Encouraging dialogue on all aspects of culture and community building,

Examining personal, interpersonal, community and global relationships and interactions,

Promoting exploration of the many perspectives reflected in our global communities,

Facilitatingchangethroughexperimentationandevaluationofnewsynthesesinart,science,life-style, and philosophy as tools for the integration of the personal, the political, and the spiritual.
We engage in this process of new paradigm building in order to ensure a cooperative and sustainable future for ourselves, our descendants, and our planet with its diversity of life forms and living systems.

What is a Conclave like?

o Each Conclave has a full schedule of activities planned around a specific theme. We try for a balance between information and experience at each gathering. We work together in sacred space throughout the get together, acknowledging and strengthening our sense of connection with Spirit and each other. We work and play in the beautiful lands surrounding us and in our comfortable indoor spaces. We find that some of our most fulfilling moments come while engaged in conversation, cooking and cleaning, as well as ritualizing, working on sacred craft projects and in our private alone moments.

How many people may come?

o Enrollment is limited to forty participants. Please register as early as possible by returning the

enclosed registration form, in order that we know how many people to plan and buy food for. Please pass the word on to friends. Invite them to join you in this Earth Conclave adventure.

When and where is the Earth Conclave?

o This Conclave begins Friday October 24, 2014. You can arrive as early as 3:00 p.m. Registration

opens at 4:00 p.m. By 6:30 PM, we will be ready to begin our dinner, then moving on to introductions and the opening ritual. Conclave continues through Monday, October 27, 2014. After the closing ritual, we have our feedback brunch, clean up, and say our farewells. The Conclave is over by 2:00 p.m. To experience the full impact of Conclave, we ask you to commit to staying until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

o The Conclave site is an indoor group camping facility in beautiful southwestern Wisconsin. We meet and eat in the main lodge. We sleep and shower in cabins with bunk beds. All buildings are equipped with electricity, heating, and plumbing.

How do I get there?

o All attendees are expected to make their own arrangements for getting to and from the Earth Conclave. The site is about two hours from Madison, four and a half hours from Minneapolis, and five hours from Chicago. There is ample parking right at the site. You will receive detailed directions with your confirmation response packet.

o All vehicles must pay a vehicle admission fee, which is as high as $30.00 for three nights for an out of state vehicle. See http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/parks/admission/html for details.

How much does it cost?

o The registration fee of $120.00 to $235.00 covers your conference attendance including room and board. All Conclave events offer a self-determined sliding scale. Each attendee determines what they can afford within the scale. We remain committed to having quality, diverse offerings in a safe and creative environment. Any additional contribution you can make will be greatly appreciated!

Who is responsible for setting up and taking down the Event site?

o All attendees are responsible for the setting up and the taking down of an Earth Conclave. We all pitch in to set up the spaces: kitchen, dining room, ritual space, altars, divination table, art table, etc. At the end of an Earth Conclave we are all responsible for the taking down and the cleaning up after the gathering.

Who does the cooking and clean up of the Kitchen?

o Earth Conclave has a Head Cook and Cooks Helper who are part of the Event Committee. They planthe menus to ensure all are well fed and that dietary needs are considered as well as possible. They shop for, purchase and transport most of the food; however we do have a snack table for items donated by the larger community.

o Kitchen Clean Up is handled by community volunteers. This assures that Conclave can continue to be affordable. It’s fun, and working together in small groups is an easy way to get to know people. This rarely interferes with participation in events. Everyone is expected to work approximately 3-6 hours during the weekend, depending on how many people attend.

How about the food?

o Meals are included in your registration fee for Earth Conclave. They are planned in advance by a

member of the gathering. If you have dietary restrictions (medical, vegetarian, vegan, low-carb, gluten free, etc.), please let us know by no later than one month prior to the event. We do not track dietary restrictions from one Conclave to the next. If you have severe dietary restrictions, please let us know as soon as possible.

o The Cooks are empowered to determine what accommodations can be made for individual dietary needs. If the Cooks determine that no accommodations can be made in the menu, they will have the discretion to offer a discounted registration fee to the person/s whose dietary needs cannot be met.

Should I bring anything?

o You will need to provide your own bedding, towels, and toiletries. Please

bring whatever you need for your comfort: your favorite pillow, a teddy bear, chocolate, extra cloths to create a bit of privacy around your bed, a soft throw rug to greet your feet in the morning, etc. – but don’t bring illegal substances, alcohol, firearms, or weapons.

o Bring items for the Community Altar (sacred objects in support of the gathering’s intention), the Divination Table (your favorite divination tools and skills to share), the Family Altar (pictures or tokens of all your beloveds), the Giveaway Table (things which need to move on), and the Art Table (art and craft supplies to share).

o A more detailed list will come with your post-registration materials.

Can I bring children or a pet?

o The nature of Conclave is not conducive to the inclusion of children. We define “children” as young people who cannot maintain concentration and conversation for extended periods of time and/or who need individual care and attention. Pets are not allowed at this campsite.

A word about diversity and chemical-free space.....

o For the sake of diversity and dialogue, we encourage people with various life-style choices, race,
sexual orientation, body types, ages, genders and traditions to attend. Conclave supports chemical- free space for its events. Alcohol and other mind-altering drugs have no place here. If you would be uncomfortable with this diversity or these limits, you may not be comfortable at this gathering.

o All attendees must pre-register:

Please,it’s important to pre-register, even if you cannot pay in full. We need to know how many to plan for. Also, there may be additional items you may want to bring and other information you will need to know for this Conclave that will be listed in you post-registration package. If 18 people are not registered by September 24, 2014 this event will be canceled. (Registration forms will follow in separate e-mail)
